Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hie..me and my bf had sex on 13th april. He ejaculated outside and then i took unwanted 72 on the same day. I got heavy flow of blood on 23 april for 5-6 days. Now i am experiencing little nipple changes and my next period has also not yet come. Can i be pregnant?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Unwanted 72 is an emergency contraceptive pill. It needs to be taken within 72 hours of an unprotected intercourse. Earlier it is taken, the protection seems to be better. The pill would prevent pregnancy by causing breakthrough bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of its intake. Since you have taken the pill at the proper time and got breakthrough bleeding, it would state that you are not pregnant. Your period schedule will change accordingly. Nipple changes and delay in periods can happen with intake of such pills as they are hormonal preparation. Kindly relax and wait for periods to happen. If the delay is for more than 10 days, kindly seek medical attention promptly. Hope the information provided helps. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
