Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Emergency Contraceptive Pill?
Hi. well me and my boyfriend had sex about 3 days ago and the condom came off inside me and only came out the next morning when i coughed the day after that i took a MORNING-AFTER PILL to prevent pregnancy. I would like to know how high is the chances that i may be pregnant?
Emergency contraceptive pills are effective if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse. Morning after pill is most effective when taken immediately after unprotected intercourse. Efficacy declines as time elapses between sex and drug administration. But it is reasonably effective for up to 120 hours and perhaps longer. However, you should remember that it is more effective the sooner it is taken after unprotected sex. The estimated effectiveness varies from 52% and 94%. That means, it is not 100% effective, and pregnancy is possible even after its proper and timely use. Anyway, if pregnancy occurs even after its use, you have another option of legal abortion. So wait till your next period. If you miss your period, get done pregnancy test. Thanks!
