Is Pregnancy Possible Due To Spotting And Nausea After Intercourse?

Hi I have a question about a possible pregnancy. Me and my girlfriend had unprotected sex 1 day after her period ended. i pulled out, and she took the plan b pill the next morning. she experienced nausea 3 days after that lasted for 3 days(possibly flu or food poisoning). now she says she is experiencing spotting. she took a blood pregnancy test today(7 days after sex) that came back negative. what are your thoughts on our situation.

Hi there, I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

1. First of all do not panic.

2. As you might be aware that in a woman with regular cycles day 10 to 20 of the cycle is the most fertile period of cycle. If you have unprotected sex act in the fertile period of cycle, then you stand chance to get pregnant.

As you had unprotected sex act just a day after she finished her periods, she was in a quite a safe period. Hence, the chances of getting pregnant are almost nil.

3. Also , she has taken emergency contraceptive pill within 24 to 72 hours of unprotected sex act. This will also offer her protection against the pregnancy.

As such her symptoms can be due to high doses of hormone progesterone in these pills.

These pills are known to have eratic withdrawal bleeding. There can be early or late bleeding and there can be heavy or scanty bleeding, after the consumption of emergency contraceptive pills.

5. Please seek prescription support from your treating doctor for getting anti emetics and antacids.

6,. I will suggest you to get proper sex counselling done. Use of suitable contraceptive method like condom, will help you to prevent the unwanted pregnancy and STDs.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks.
