Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am in menopause per my gynecologist and the blood work done in early December 2017. I am 53, I will be 54 in November of this year. I have not had a menstrual cycle/period since August 2017. Do my husband and I still need to use any form of birth control?
No rather than birth control pill, you can use condoms which are best. If you use pills, there could be more side effects due to that.
If there was permanent tubectomy done, then it would be better. Because pregnancy is confirmed at any age in women and who knows if you ovulate, and you say recently, you attained menopause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
