Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m breastfeeding my almost 3 month old. I ve had unprotected sex with my husband. I think I got my period back, but it was for three days and extremely light. I was on birth control for a week then stopped, and had sex with my husband again. Could I get pregnant?
Noted the history about a nursing Mother, breastfeeding the baby for 3 months and had unprotected sex with husband, worried about possible pregnancy. Yes this is possible only if you have ovulation at that time and hence the best way is as follows: Consult your Gynecologist to discuss the issue. Get the Ultrasonography and blood tests for beta HCG to confirm whether pregnant or not. Since you are breastfeeding the baby you have to be cautious to take any medications, particularly the hormonal preparations. If the pregnancy is not there , nothing to worry. If positive then decide with your husband and the Gynecologist about future plans. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
