Hi, My partner had a vasectomy 14 years ago and a Turp as well. He already has 2 kids and is divorced. Now we would like to have a kid since I have none he is 50 and I am 34. He is considering doing a reversal. I initially spoke with a urologist and fertility specialist who was going to do a testicular extraction of the sperm and then do Invitro, which would be better. He however says this is too expensive and is convinced that after he does the reversal, we will get pregnant naturally. I do not believe so. Please tell me what your thoughts are on us getting pregnant naturally?
Hello dear I understand your concern Reversal of vasectomy depend on methods used. If it is ductus ligation then it can be reverted. If not then then it is permanent occlusion. If there is permanent occlusion then sperms can be taken from testicles and IVF is the only option for the baby. Yo can also get children form the IVF technique.
If ductal ligation is there then only reversal and natural pregnancy is possible. Otherwise natural pregnancy is not possible. So consult the urologist for proper management. Hope I have answer your query
