Is Pregnancy Possible Through Protected Sex?

Hello, I am 23 years old been having irregular periods since I first got it. Sometimes it gets regular for a while but then stops. Recently this year I started having unprotected sex with my partner. I understand the risk of this but he never ejaculated inside of me as he always wears a condom half way through. He always makes sure that he s okay before we start by showering and cleaning up. For the past 3 months, I ve been having regular periods on the 11th of each month. This month, I didn t have it on time and now it s the 19th and still no bleeding. I ve been having lower abdominal pain and I had some spotting today and 3 days ago. I took a pregnancy test yesterday which turned out to be negative. There is no specific time that I think I was at a higher risk of being pregnant as he never ejaculated inside of me. Could someone please tell me if there is a possibility that I m pregnant? And if so, when should I take my next pregnancy test? And if I do a blood test at this stage, would it be accurate? I should also note that I ve been very stressed recently due to university work and finishing my degree, so could this affect my period? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on your description, it appears that you are at risk of becoming pregnant as your partner wears condoms half-way through the act. Hence, it is more of unprotected intercourse rather than protected one.
Chances of pregnancy is possible, although remote, even with contact with pre-ejaculatory fluid as it contains motile sperms.
Since your periods are delayed, it would be advisable to take Urine Pregnancy Test after 10 days of delay in period. Also, it would be better to check beta hCG levels in blood and undertake an ultrasound scan of abdomen to confirm about its status.
In case these reports are indicative negative for pregnancy, then you need to be evaluated for the cause of delay in periods and treated accordingly.
Kindly consult Gynecologist with the reports in this regard for further management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
