Is Pregnancy Possible When Suffering From Scoliosis And Arthritis?
Hi, I am 45 years old with scoliosis, Artritis on disc. I take Diclofenac twice a day for the severe back pain I have which happens to takes all away all back, unless of course, I forget to take if. My main question is...as stated previoulsy, I am 45 years of age and would love to have a beautiful healthy baby. Would that be possible with the back injuries, I ve mentioned previously?
Women with scoliosis can have a normal pregnancy but give a detailed history of what you are suffering from to your OB/GYN. They may not be experts on treating scoliosis or arthritis during pregnancy, so you are advised to get connected to an orthopedist so that you are managed well and given safe medicines in doses that are safe for your baby. Having scoliosis or arthritis does not put your baby at risk. However, some precautions are necessary.
Scoliosis and arthritis may be more pronounced in the hip, leg and back pain during pregnancy. >Cobb angle may increase after 24 weeks of pregnancy resulting in back, hip or leg pain in some women. Get connected with a physical therapist. Physical therapy will be helpful. Epidurals may be challenging for some women with scoliosis. Your gynecologist may recommend induced labor or a Caesarean section.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
