Is Pregnancy Possible While On Depo-Provera Shots?
Hi. I was on the depo for about 5 months and was on my way to receive the next shot but had some unexpected situations and was not able to get the shot. I went in a week and a half later to get the shot and was told i was not protected for that time. I had unprotected sex and some very light spotting (light pink) could I get pregnant so soon after the shot? My period completely disappeared after the first shot.
Yes, as you did not take your shot at the due time so your protection cycle got broken. You had an unprotected sexual exposure during that period, so pregnancy can not be ruled out. The spotting you had, might be implantation bleeding.
Please take your shot immediately and do a UPT on the first day of your missed period (if so). Please use extra contraception methods, if such situation appears in future.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
