Is Pregnancy Safe When Diagnosed With Thyroid Issue And Diabetes?

I am a 33 year old woman with 3 kids (1 vaginal & 2 csection) my last pregnancy I had preclampsia and she was delivered at 32 weeks. I currently have thyroid issue and diabetes. I am not currently taking medicine for either issue. I just found out I am pregnant and need a professional opinion on whether I should terminate the pregnancy because it is too high risk or if I can have the baby.

Hi,

Pregnancy can be safe as long as you take the medicines for these conditions.

Definitely there is a high risk of maternal as well neonatal complications associated with uncontrolled diabetes and thyroid disease.

I advise you to start taking the treatment of these conditions and have an normal baby.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
