Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking 2/50 mg Pristiq per day for a couple of years. I recently changed jobs and insurers. My insurer won t pay for pristiq and my doctor has prescribed 37.5 mg Venlafaxine ER at one a day. I didn t get a chance to discuss with my doctor. Are these dosages and meds equivalent.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Praveen's Response
Hi dear. Thanks for writing on HCM. Pristiq is infact a isomer-Desvenlafaxine meaning more pure than its parent drug Venlafaxine. It is also devoid of unwanted side effects of Venlafaxine.Nothing two worry.Equipotent dose of Venlfaxine ER will be lower since its an analogue.Hope this answers your query.
