Is Proloa Or Forteo Suggested For Osteoporosis For A Patient Having High BP And Cholesterol?

Which is better an least side effects Prolia or Forteo. I have -2.8 Oesteoporisis, have tried Boniva, Actonel and Foxomax with no luck. Don t like shots, can t imagining giving myself one everyday with Foreto. I have high blood pressure and high choloersterol. Which would be least side effects and best for me.

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Prolia is safer with lesser side effects, as compared to Forteo. It is also convenient to give: one injection every six months. However, Prolia tends to increase cholesterol levels. Addition of cholesterol-lowering drug (called 'Statins'), such as, atorvastatin or Rosuvastatin daily at bedtime will keep cholesterol levels under control.

Inj Forteo is inconvenient, since an injection needs to be taken daily and also has more side effects.

Take Prolia under close supervision of your doctor.
