Is Proton Therapy The Right Treatment For Tumor In Lung?

My dad had a tumor on his lung and had two broncospopies which were inconclusive and yet both doctors say it is cancerous because it is grown in the past year from 2 centimeters to 4 centimeters and because he is 94 there s nothing they can do. What about proton therapy, don t want to just give up!

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The treatment for lung cancer can be planned after the tumor is characterized.
This is because different cancers have different treatment.
All cancers cannot be treated with same modality.
Thus, a biopsy is required to diagnose the tumor.
If the bronchoscopy has been unsuccessful, a biopsy can be taken under guidance of ultrasound or Ct scan.
I suggest you to consult your treating doctor regarding guided biopsy.
The definitive treatment can only be given after diagnosis of lung lesion is made.

Thanks and take care
