Is Pulse Rate Of 32 Bpm In An Elderly Person A Cause For Concern?
Hello, I am writing to you about my mother. I have a concern about her pulse. It seems low to me. She is 92 with Alzeimers, dimentia and has high blood pressure. She is taking medication for that and an Xelon patch. Her current vitals are 167/51 with a pulse of 32. Your thoughts?
Hello, Yes, 32 beats per minute can be called as bradycardia. A detailed cardiac examination and investigations needs to be done. Any medications that can be contributing needs a change or a decrease in dose. Exelon (rivastigmine) can also contribute to bradycardia. I would recommend a cardiologist consultation as soon as possible to ascertain the exact cause. I hope the above information helps you. Thanks for writing into healthcare magic.
