Hi,
During
pregnancy a blood
glucose level below 140 is considered as normal, where as a level between 145-199 is diagnosed as pre-diabetic and a level of >200 is diagnosed as diabetic. As you are having your blood sugar 182, hence it is to be taken as pre-diabetic. These patients may eventually have a risk of developing diabetes, hence further screened by 3 hour screening test. In 3 hour test,1st sample is taken after a complete fasting of 8 hours. Then you are given 100 gm. of sugar. After this, 2nd sample is taken after1 hour, 3rd after 2 hours &4th sample after 3 hours.
The four samples are then analysed for glucose levels. Normal limits of these samples is taken as below---
* Fasting up to 95 mg%
* After 1 hour up to 180 mg%
* After 2 hours up to 155 mg%
* After 3 hours up to 140 mg
* If one sample out of 4 is above normal, then patient will be tested again after 4 weeks.
* If out of 4 any 2 or more samples are above normal, then the patient will be taken as of
gestational diabetes and will be further managed with all the precautions like a patient of diabetes.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
