Hello,

Yes, it's safe to eat red cabbage while on Nardil.

Nardil is an antidepressant (monoamine oxidase inhibitor) prescribed to treat depression. It is known to cause harmful interaction ('hypertensive crises') if taken along with certain foods like charcoal broiled meat or chicken, pickled fish, liver, fermented dairy products including cheese/yoghurt, fava beans, beer/wine, yeast extract, excess chocolates and coffees.

"Kim chee" (Korean fermented cabbage) can also cause hypertensive crises if taken along with Nardil. However, there's no documented evidence of such harmful interaction between red cabbage and Nardil, hence red cabbage may be eaten while taking the antidepressant Nardil.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
