Is Nardil Safe For Treatment Of Depression?

My psych nurse suggested Nardil and suggested I study the effects and dietary restrictions before starting on it. I have taken many different SSRIs and SNRIs over the past 22 or so years. And now we are repeating them and I still do not feel on the plus side of sad, deflated, blue , etc. While I was looking up Nardil, I saw other MAOIs that did not have the serious restrictions or side effects that Nardil has. Until I read that info and read the q&a section here, I had never heard the name of any MAOI except Nardil. With all of the issues associated with it, why is it so popular?

Hello sir
As you said that you have taken ssri and SNRI for more than 22 years but you still feel low and depressed.
Antidepressants takes atleast 2 weeks to show their effect and you have to take countinous treatment for long duration. After all drug treatment around 33 % patients are non responders and they need long even life time drug treatment.
Nardyl (dyphenhydraminate) is an antihistamine and its nothing to do with antidepressant action its uses are allergy runny nose itching etc.
Thank you
