Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have an unanary track infection. Monday I started an antibiotic Macrobid 3x day for 5 days. Only took 2 tabs due to starting late in day. Mr face is flushed and tongue SLIGHTLY red. Feel fine, does not itch nor swollen. Is this a side effect of med?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain Macrobid contains Nitrofurantoin which is an antibiotic and is used to treat urinary tract infection and the facial flushing as well as Reddening of tongue [Glossitis] is a side effect of the drug and you need to consult your treating physician and get evaluated and in case if required he can either reduce the dose of the drug or change the drug to other options like Norfloxacin..
Hope this information helps..
