Is Reddish Coloration In Stool Sign Of Colitis Or Drinking Wine?
after drinking red wine (much more than I usually consume since I hardly ever drink) on Sat. evening, I have (since Sunday) had mucus-y stool with reddish coloration to it. is this colitis or just an irritation from too much wine? I'm otherwise healthy, age 40, female with no other medical issues/history.
Dear food like red gelatin, popsicles, or Kool-Aid tomato juice or soup, large amounts of beets can cause harmless red colour stools.
But pathological conditions like
1.Hemorrhoids 2.Anal fissures 3.Colon polyps or colon cancer 4.Diverticular bleeding 5.Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).can cause red colour stools. Sometimes Red wine may give Color or it may be due to bleeding from gi tract.
colitis (IBD)may can cause blood in stool. Please consult your physician he will investigate and treat you accordingly.
Take care
