Is Redness On Skin After Contact With Cold Wind Normal?
For several years now, when my skin is exposed to cold air, or comes in contact with a cold surface, my skin becomes bright red, without hives, and without turning white first, and then itches intensely until i star to warm up again. I m a 58 year old female, without a thyroid gland, who has Fibromyalgia and Osteo Arthritis. I take two blood pressure meds, Losartan, and Atenolol, Synthroid, and 30 mg of Cymbalta. Any idea on what makes my skin do this when it s cold?

Your symptoms seem to be related to cold urticaria syndrome.
Cold urticaria symptoms begin soon after the skin is exposed to a sudden drop in air temperature or to cold water.
Damp and windy conditions may make a flare of symptoms more likely.
Each episode may persist for about two hours.
I suggest using a steroid cream for local application such as Betametasone cream.
I also suggest using Cetirizine 10 mg daily.
