Is Rhinitis Caused Due To Passive Smoking Post An Open Heart Surgery?

I presently had open heart surgery to replace mitral valve. successful surgery, however now I am experiencing this cough off an on during the day. but at night that cough comes when trying to rest...I am not a smoker,, but there is a person in the household that smokes..and I have brought that to the attention that this could be possibly the reason for the cough. went to see my PCP they prescribed me antiboctics for rhonioitis. probably spelled incorrectly. just concerned

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if this is the cardiac surgery done then you have to be very careful it is advisable to rule out the infection first if this is not the infection then avoid antibiotic, such cough could be due to allergic condition and may not need any treatment (If cardiac reason ruled out ) hope this information helps.
(Age and gender information is not given else something else could have been thought )
