Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Right-sided Facial And Eye Twitching A Cause For Concern?
I am a 63 year old male. Approximately 4 months ago the right side of my face and right eye began to twitch, flutter and spasm. It is uncontrollable and lasts a few hours at a time. But it happens once or twice daily at irregular times during the day. Should I be concerned?
Hemifacial spasm is a nervous system disorder in which the muscles on one side of your face twitch involuntarily.
Hemifacial spasm is most often caused by a blood vessel touching a facial nerve, but it may be caused by a facial nerve injury or a tumor, or it may not have a cause.
Lack of sleep, whether because of stress or some other reason, can trigger a twitching eyelid. Catching up on your sleep and having a consistent sleep schedule can help.
You should wait for a week or so and then if this twitching continues, you should consult a neuro physician for a possible diagnosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
