Is Sciatica Pain From The Buttocks To The Calf After L5 S1 Discectomy Normal?

I had L5 S1 discetomy 5 weeks ago. My back feels good, but I have severe sciatica pain going down my butt to the calf of my leg. Am currently doing physical therapy. Have not seen much improvement, but I have only been doing this for 2 1/2 weeks. Is it normal to have this pain yet? What is the best treatment to get the pain to subside?

Hello. Definitely rare to get sciatica after disectomy. you can use safe anti inflammatory drugs like paracetamol to reduce the pain. if persist for more than 2 weeks or unbearable u may need another MRI. hope it subsides.
