Hi, i am able to go into a dentist procedure were i am getting sedated. I am just wondering if sedation is not good for earlier pregnancy or trying to conceive? As last night we had intercourse and I was ovulating as ovulation test was positive or now I am thinking it could be a positive for pregnancy, is I am pregnant it wouldn t be anymore then 1 week though?

Hi Dear,

As per your query you were trying to conceive and your pregnancy test is positive which is just start of pregnancy. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit dentist once and get complete examination done. If any dental procedure needs to be done, it can be done and finished before conception as any dental related procedures are allowed in 2nd trimester only. I would suggest you to be very cautious about antibiotics you take as that should be properly prescribed as any infection in the body might cause miscarriage and preterm labour pains.

As you are planning on getting pregnant, you should see your dentist. Maintain complete hygiene. If you require dental treatment during pregnancy, non-urgent procedures are often performed after first trimester and safely in 2nd trimester. Do floss regularly and avoid junk food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
