Is Severe Abdominal Pain Related To Endometriosis?

So I recently just ended my period. I started it June 25th and from the time it started to about the 28th, I had severe cramping and pain with going to the bathroom. I tried taking naproxyn, ibuprofen, midol and Tylenol and those didn t help. I also tried a heating pad and a TENS Unit, again without any relief. The pain was so severe, I ended up going to the ER on the 26th and they gave me a medication that made me very sick the next day. I ve found that any medication I need to start makes me very sick for the first week or so. I looked up endometriosis and noticed that I have many of the symptoms. I am trying to get an appointment with my doctor, however nothing is available until August 1st. My question is, when I do see my doctor, what questions should I ask and what tests should I request, if any? I am extremely worried that this is what is the cause and I am also worried that my Dr. won t listen to me.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history related to menstrual period, severe cramping and pain while going to bathroom, Ibuprofen, Midol, Naproxen or Tylenol did not help, had been to ER, its medicines made you more sick.
This indicates that the cause is related to Ovarian cyst that might have got twisted or Pelvic Inflammatory disease or related to small or large bowel.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Consult a General Surgeon for proper clinical evaluation, examination and order for necessary investigations as follows:
Ultrasonography of abdomen to start with CT scan of abdomen if required.
Tests of blood, urine and stool helps a lot.
If the cause is surgical like twisted ovarian cyst, salpingitis appendicitis or so then you may need surgery.
If the cause is of medical type like IBS or so then you will need the proper medications dosages.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
