Is Severe Chest Pain A Symptom Of Costochondritis?
Hi, I have experienced severe chest wall pain which spreads to my back and neck. I play in a brass band and this happens when I have taken a break, maybe 2 or 3 weeks, then play in a strenuous rehearsal. The symptoms do not occur straight away but turn up a couple of days later. I have had all the usual heart related tests plus a bone scan.I have been reading about costochondritis, is it possible that this is what I have?
Since your cardiac evaluations have come out normal, the pain around the chest wall is likely to be muscle related pain or costochondritis. I would suggest rest for 5 days along with muscle relaxant tablets twice a day after food in order to reduce the pain. Local application of analgesic gels can also provide pain relief.
Hope that was helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.
