Thank you. I have a friend, 70 years old with uncontrollable diaherra. She was in the hospital 2 months Ago with rectal bleeding. At that time it was diagnosed as diviticulosis.....I know that is not spelled Correctly.......my question is the diaherra a symptom of this diviticulosis?!
I am sorry for the health problems your 70 years old friend is going through.
Diverticulosis consists of formation of tiny pockets (sacks) inside the bowel lining. Diverticulitis is characterized by inflammation or infection of these pockets (diverticula).
Diverticulosis does not have any clinical symptom. While, diverticulitis can be expressed by following symptoms:
- alternating diarrhea (including uncontrollable diarrhea) with constipation - painful abdominal cramps - chills and fever
So, I think your friend is going through a diverticulitis attack. Apart medical treatment suggested by her doctor; diet changes are very important too.
Wish fast recovery.
