General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Severe pain in the leg can be related to changes in the back such as spondylosis. Spondylosis can cause compression of the nerve. There are pain medications that may be able to help. Medications such as Amitriptyline, Gabapentin, Tegretol and Lyrica - help nerve related pain. Physiotherapy may also help as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
