Is Shifting From Amlodipine 2.5mg To Nifedipine Recommended For Treating Raynaud S Syndrome?
I recently (two weeks ago) started taking amlodipine 2.5mg for raynauds. I generally have very low BP (98/45). I am experiencing extreme fatigue, irregular heartbeats, and chest pain or feeling of pressure. The doctor changed my script to nifedipine. I am concerned that the symptoms will continue.
I understand your concern. Both Amlodipine and Nifedipine are drugs used to treat Raynaud's and they both belong to the same drug class, hence the mechanism of action in both is the same. Both these drugs are also used to lower the blood pressure, and while you will likely continue to experience fatigue and low blood pressure, you will most likely not experience chest pain or pressure, which is a side effect of Amlodipine. If you continue to have unpleasant side effects you should go back to your doctor and discuss a different treatment.
I hope this helps. Wishing you all the best.
