Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. It is good that you are conscious, oriented and able to do activities. Regarding your
memory loss, you can evaluate it by asking your family member to ask you few questions related to your past, daily routine activities. You can
consult neurologist to examine you.
He will evaluate your higher mental function like memory ( recent, short term, long term ) , language, behaviour, thinking process. This evaluation will help you in finding severity of your memory loss problem. PET scan will find area of hypo or low activity in brain. It should be done only after evaluation by doctor and he suspects something. In your case, if you have significant memory loss,
MRI brain can also localise damaged area.
You can follow few tips to enhance your memory
: Play chess or Sudoku daily
: Keep a diary with you to note important names, numbers, things to do list.
: Eat almonds daily
: You can take drugs like
Ginkgo biloba with neutron specific
vitamins after proper prescription
: Do not miss sleep. Daily sleep for 8 hours.
Hope it will help you.
Thanks.
