Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Shoulder Replacement Surgery Effective In The Treatment Of Shoulder Pain?
yes, I am considering shoulder replacement surgery. I am 69 years old in good health. I presently have no pain in my shoulder. I am concern that o will not receive much of a benefit from this surgery I can presently move my arm up to shoulder high, and can move it to the middle of my back. my only concern is lack of overhead lifting & strength.
Joint replacement surgery is done for primary pathology in the joint which restricts movement of joints and causes pain.
As you have mentioned that the joint is painless and movement is up to shoulder and lack of strength, the requirement of joint replacement needs to be weighed against the risk associated with surgery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
