Is Shrinkage Of Penis In Size A Medical Condition?
I m a 65 yo male. Lately i ve had a feeling like my penis is getting smaller. Seems to be shrinking. I m about 10 kilos overweight. Mainly belly fat. I had to have a circumcision at age 63 due to recurrent foreskin inflammation. Is penis shrinkage a medical condition i should be concerned about?
The length of your penis can decrease by up to an inch for various reasons. Usually, changes to penis size are smaller than an inch, most often it is about 1/2 an inch or less.
Typical causes of loss of length in your penis include: aging, obesity, prostate surgery and a curving of the penis.
Such slight shortening of penis will not affect your ability to have an active, satisfying sex life. Hence you need not be worried about it much. Maintaining erectile function is important because erections fill the penis with oxygen-rich blood, which could prevent shortening.
Erectile function can be maintained with aging by:
1. remaining physically active
2. eating a nutritious diet
3. quitting smoking
4. avoiding consumption of excessive amounts of alcohol. Kindly consult Urologist if you need to be evaluated clinically.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
