Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Shrinking Of Breast After Radiation Therapy Normal?
I had a lumpectomy Nov 14 2014 and was diagnosed with breast cancer on Dec. 3... had 16 rounds of radiation that finished Feb. 20 2015... this past week I noticed that the affected breast has shrunk. Is this normal... I don t see my oncologist until Sept. 29 and am concerned.
* As per my clinical experience, the radiation therapy of regional parts of the body do reflect variety of sequences.
* The fibrosis of underlying soft tissue and fat structures do suggest reduction in size of the tissue mass as evidenced by shrinkage of breast in your case.
* It is acceptable part of recovery in carcinoma breast patients.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
