Is Single Incident Of Brushing Teeth With Clotrimazole Cream A Cause For Concern?

I accidentally brushed my teeth with clortrimazole cream a few days ago after reaching in my Dopp kit and thinking I had the toothpaste. I realized right away and washed my mouth out several times with hot water before brushing my teeth the right way. Now I've had diarrhea the last two days. Is this the cause?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Clotrimazole cream is an anti-fungal medication and in case if you have brushed your teeth with it there is a possibility that only a very few traces might have been swallowed and as you have cleaned you mouth several times with water there is a less probablity of it causing any deleterious side effects..

As you have got diarrhea since 2 days it does not seems like due to brushing teeth with an antifungal agent and can be due to other causes like Stomach infection..
I would suggest you to take anti-diarrhea medications like Furazolidone along with antibiotic like Metronidazole..
Take ample of fluids and salts..
Take a fibre rich diet..

In case of no improvement in 3 to 4 days consult a General Physician and get evaluated.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards,
Honey Nandwani Arora.
