Is Skiing Safe While Suffering From Atrial Fibrillation?

I do not exercise regularly, but I kayak every couple of weeks in the summer and fall. I hunt in the fall and usually X-C ski in the winter. I have not been out this winter but I am scheduled to go for along weekend starting in two days. I have recently been diagnosed with afib not related to a heart valve problem and have experienced high blood pressure. Is there a problem gping X-C skiing and snow shoeing this weekend? Other than diagnosis, I feel fine.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You can safely go for skiing. It will not worsen your cardiac conditions.

If you experience anything abnormal like chest pain or palpitation, stop the procedure and rush to your hospital at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
