Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can a 22 year old man who has had brain surgery for an arachnoid cyst, and had a tube or shunt put in to drain the spinal cord fluid back down the spine go skydiving, the tube or shunt does not go to his stomach, is only inside the back of the cerebellum, and spinal cord area ?
Usually, post the operation most things are safe but still need to have a physical examination and observations. Like when you are under training for the sky dying the report has to be submitted to the neurologist before taking up the call for the action. As anything above a certain level of gravity may lead to an increase in the ICF due to excessive muscle contraction which are isometrics in nature. Also, there will be a change in the blood pressure too which may or may not cause abnormal symptoms. So before doing any kind of activity, it's better to take the neurologist opinion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
