Is Small Indentation On The Head Of An Infant A Cause For Concern?

My 6 month old son fell a week ago from about 18 inches onto carpet. As soon as I picked him up he stopped crying and started playing. He had a very small knot that has gone down but now I feel a small dent maybe an inch long. Do I need to take him to the dr?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If he is as active as normal, not irritable, normal level of alertness and appetite, then he may not need an assessment.

If he is drowsy or inactive, seems to cry easily, then he should be assessed.

The lesion is likely due to the formation of scar tissue in the area. Because it can cause pulling and this would cause an indentation.

If you are still concerned then he should be seen by his doctor.

I hope this helps
