Is Small Soft Lump At The Site Of Injury On Head A Cause For Concern?
Our 5 month old rolled off our bed this morning. We immediately took him to the ER where the doctor looked over him very closely now we are at home and I noticed a soft spot on the side of his head where he fell, is this normal or do we need to take him back to ER?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain a soft bump at the side of head due to fall can be due Hematoma formation that occurs due to rupture of superficial blood vessels leading to spillage of blood into soft tissues..
It can also occur due to injury to the soft tissues causing inflammation and also there is accumulation of inflammatory exudate, dead tissue fibres and inflammatory cells..
You need not to worry as it will gradually resolve . You can do alternate warm and cool compresses over the spot for faster resolution.. If there is pain Tylenol can be given.. Apply Heparin gel as it helps in faster resolution of hematoma.
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
