Is Small Space Between Vertebrae In Lower Back Indicative Of Pinched Nerve?
I was having lower back pain on my left side. I went to my chiropractor and the pain in my back is better, but I am now numb in my knee below and above the knee cap and also on the knee cap. My x-ray showed a smaller space between two of my vertebrae in my lower back. Is this due to a pinched nerve?
It is possible that the numbness is due to a pinched/ compressed nerve in the lower back.
The nerves that are related to the lumbar spine supply the lower aspect of the body. Any problems in these areas can potentially altered sensation such as numbness, tingling, burning, sticking etc
You may need to consider other imaging such as an MRI.An MRI can take a look at not just the vertebra but also the nerves in the area.
Physiotherapy and additional treatment such as medication may be needed. In very severe compression, surgery is also an option
I hope this helps
