Is Smoking Dangerous For A Person Who Has Undergone By Pass Surgery?

My husband had a triple-bypass surgery in June 2011. At that time he quit smoking. His recovery was complicated because of the long-term smoking and because of alcohol. He started smoking again in Sept and now has develeoped the chronic cough is used to have when he smoked--it is 24/7. What concerns should I have and should I tell his doctor--he won't... He also has bladder cancer, dx in 2009. He has had 4 surgeries and 3 rounds of chemo. It is still confined to his bladder.

I really don't know what to do--I feel like I am watching him kill himself

THANKS FOR POSTING YOUR QUERY.
I FEEL REALLY SORRY FOR YOUR PERCEPTION TOWARDS YOUR HUSBAND AND YOUR PERCEPTION IS QUITE RIGHT.
YOUR HUSBAND IS CONSIDERED VERY HIGH RISK PATIENT ,CONSIDERING HIS HEALTH RELATED ISSUES=POST CABG/BYPASS FOR TRIPLE VESSEL DISEASE,CANCER BLADDER(LOCALISED),CHRONIC SMOKER AND ALCOHOLIC.
MADAM I WOULD LIKE TO CLEARLY TELL YOU THAT ALL HIS HEALTH RELATED ISSUES HAVE DEVELOPED EXCLUSIVELY SECONDARY TO HIS SMOKING..

SMOKING AGAIN WOULD REALLY INCREASE HIS RISK OF WORSENING HIS CURRENT HEALTH BY MORE THAN 100 TIMES.IT ALSO INCREASES HIS MORTALITY RATE BY 50%.

THERE IS A RISK OF FLARING UP HIS BLADDER CANCER,DEVELOP HEART FAILURE,ESCALATE CHEMOTHERAPY RELATED SIDE EFFECTS.
ALL HE NEED TO DO NOW IS QUIT SMOKING UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF AN EXPERT DE-ADDICTION CENTER AND PSYCHIATRIST.

NEW DRUGS LIKE VERNACILINE AND BUPROPION CAN BE HELPFUL TO CAUSE NICOTINE DEADDICTION.

CONCLUSIVE OPINION:
AN EMERGENT NEED TO TAKE UP " QUIT SMOKING".
THANK YOU..
TAKE CARE
