I'm 62, quit smoking 4 months ago. After one and a half months I became short of breath. The shortness of breath comes and goes. So, quit smoking and now feel worse is not what I was expecting. Question is why am I shorter of breath now than I was when I smok
Cannot say in your particular case without an exam BUT the amount of wind / lung volume does grow back slightly (maybe at most a quarter cup) BUT it occurs during the first two YEARS after quitting and very little effect on that is seen in the first month after quitting. Some people have asthma like symptoms from smoking. The effect of quitting is more and quicker on this Reversible Airway disease. None of these might have anything to do with shortness of breath which can occur from heart, kidney, blood pressure and many other condditions including purely psychological.
