Is Soaking Of Fingers In Epsom Salt Advisable When Diagnosed With Allergic Reaction To Sulfa Drugs?
I have an infection on my cuticle and doctor advised Epsom salt soaking for my finger. I am highly allergic to Sulfa and although I understand they are different, I would still love some validation for soaking. At this point, the infection is not improving. I am also on Enbrel injections for psoriatic arthritis...
The epsom salt would not likely cause any cross reaction but if you are still not comfortable then you can soak with water/table salt. Salt water is also beneficial in the treatment of infections.
You can also clean the area with topical mild antiseptics and apply topical antibiotics. Both of these would be available over the counter.
I hope this helps
