Is Soreness Around The Wrist A Matter Of Concern?

Hello, I fractured distal radius 12 days ago (from a sharp blow). I have a brace which I wear 20 hrs/day, and can move/use my hand while wearing it. Little to no pain from fracture (the bone had barely moved, just cracked ). but I have a lot of soreness over the area of the wrist bones, and sometimes over the end of the ulna too, but not often. It often feels like a bruise on the skin (sore to touch) but there is no bruising there. Might it be from the fact I m using that hand a little? Should I be concerned? Is it muscle soreness? (I didn t think there were muscles over the wrist) Thank you!

Spine Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Usually a fracture takes 6 weeks to heal partially after which your pain will substantially decrease. So this could be a fracture pain and it would have been decreasing with time. So no need to worry for that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anuj Gupta, Spine Surgeon
