Is Staph Infection Contagious And What Should Be Done To Prevent It From Spreading?
My teenaged granddaughter, Janai, was diagnosed today with a staph infection on her skin. We have a party planned for Saturday where our 6 wk old baby will be the highlight. Is the baby safe? My 93 yr old mother will also be present. What needs to be done to prevent Janai from infecting anyone else.

Hello, It is my privilege to be able to help you. I have gone through the history as your grand daughter is having skin infection of staph origin. Staph infections are most frequently transmitted by direct skin-to-skin contact with someone who has an active infection. They may also be spread through contact with someone who is a carrier of the bacteria or by touching shared items or surfaces that have come into contact. Definitely she will transmit the disease. You consult your doctor for further treatment and prevention of transmission of disease. Thank you.
