Is Stem Cell Replacement The Only Option For Multiple Myloma?

Hello doctor, My wife aged 41years is suffering from multiple myloma and she has been taking thalix 200mg along with ecosprin 150 mg and decdak 4mg once every week for the past one and half years. She has reached 80%remission stage according the oncologist who treats her.Besides the above medicines, she is being administered zoletro 4mg every month and she has got two more doses to be given. she has lesion in the hip bone and she couldnot walk freely like normal person do. Oncologist treating her has said stemcell transplantation is the only option to get recovered from the diease. Can she completely recover from the diease?

Hi welcome to HCM.
Your wife currently showing a late staged disease with bony involvement.So far she has received a right treatment for her disease.In order to improve from here on Stem cell replacement seems to be the only existing right option.This has potential curative aspects ,but it is specifically indicated in limited set of individuals.HLA compatibility is a requirement for this transfusion.Consult your doctor for further care.
