Is Stomach Cramping And Pain Normal During Early Pregnancy?
Hi doctor I'm 6 weeks pregnant with hardly no symptoms of pregnancy, and what I do have are very slight I.e tender nipples, queasy sometimes, and lower tummy cramps, sharp pain intermittently and stretching type pain. Are these types of pain normal? It's my first and I'm 35 and I'm worried I maybe miscarrying. Thank you kind regards Lorraine

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. The tender breast/ nipples are due to pregnancy hormones. Lower abdominal cramps/ stretching is due to normal reaction of uterus due to pregnancy causing stretching of uterus. It's normal thing in pregnancy. However, sometimes it's excessively painful/ may accompany blood spotting... In such a case, immediate doctor's consultation for treatment ( mostly hormone replacement) & rest are needful. Thanks.
