Is Stopping DDAVP And Visiting Psychiatrist Safe While Having Diabetes Incipidis?

yes my son had a brain tumor removed 30 years ago. Since then he was put on DDAVP for diabetis incipidis. in the last couple of years he was hospitalized for dangerously low sodium. now his endocrinologist wants him to stop completely the DDAVP and want him to see a phsyciatric doctor to treat him for polydipsia. Never occurred to no one all theses years. Is he on the right track?? would the phsyciatric have a solution to his case??

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There is a condition called psychogenic polydipsia where there is intake of excess water.
This excess intake if not related to any physical medical condition but may have a psychological aspect to it.

This is the reason the endocrinologist maybe requesting a psychiatric referral.

I hope this helps
