Is Strong Foot Odor An Initial Sign Of Athlete's Foot?

I have a strong foul odor coming from my socks and shoes especially after working and sweating all day. When I take my socks off they stick to my feet and when I get in the shower once they get wet they stick to the shower floor. Should I dispose my shoes ? Is this just a bad case of athletes foot?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Strong foot odor is not neccesarily a symptom of Athlete's foot. It can be related to severe sweating & bacterial infection of foot. In athlete's foot there is often itching between the toes as early symptom.
Athlete's foot is a fungal infection that usually begins between the toes. It occurs most commonly in people whose feet have become very sweaty while confined within tight-fitting shoes.
You should check your feet for any lesion between the toes. Maintain hygiene of foot by wahing them carefully & try to keep them dry. Shoes with good aeration & cotton socks are good to prevent athletes foot

Hope this helps
