I have type 2 diabetes. I am on metformin. My blood sugars have been good but I hurt my knee an haven't been able to exercise. I normally control via exercise. My sugar is 260 just after eating. I know I need to lower it but is there a danger level for sugar for now and not the overall effect?
Hello there, Its good to know that usually your blood sugars are under control with metformin and exercise. Of course exercise plays major role in reducing blood sugars and its normal for sugars to go up when you dont exercise. The value of 260 is not very high if its for some days but I prefer you check after 2 hours of food and not immediately after food. It wont really cause the acute complications of diabetes. Keep monitoring sugars and do not allow them to rise further. If needed do visit your diabetologist who can add some medicines till the time you can resume exercise, for better control. Hope this helps. Take care.
