Is Surgery Advisable For Runners Knee In A Child?

My daughter is 11 years old and has been diagnosed recently with runners knee. Her knee keeps popping out of place but right back in. It has also been giving out on her and she ends up falling right down. She has been given some take home exercises hoping to strengthen muscles. If her knee keeps giving out will she likely have to have surgery?

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
hi,

as you mentioned she has runners knee and has been advised with take home Strengthening exercises. Why don't you meet up a physical therapist and get the precise exercise performed for the runners knee issue. I am sure it will help. 99% of the times with an accurate implementationof exercises the issue is resolved. As when take home exercises are given they are not that seriously done. As a coach knows the ability of the student. An inclusion of physical therapist at this time will make a lot of sense.

Avoiding surgery is of choice as per me as in the younger years performing surgery will not be good until it is a serious matter.

regards
